On-stage tech fails

Poor Asimo, I feel sorry for the poor guy.

And I believe that Asimo is Japanese, not Chinese.

4S has HSPA+ which was marketed at 4G in the US however Apple said they weren't going to get into that debate so just left it. And yes, Honda is about as Chinese as sushi.

Well if windows 98 fails like that I'm not buying it

Aren't you like 15 yrs too late for that.

Nevertheless, can we actually read anything from these gremlin episodes? Every device crushes or freezes at one or other point in its life - even the best of them.

At the SA launch of I think it was Windows XP a similar thing happened - system crashed during the presentation which was quite a laugh. Guys handled it well though even if it was from between gritted teeth as the techies scrambled about to sort things out.

I have had similar things when I do a talk. I always rehearse everything and check the equipment several times, carry a toolbox with a soldering iron in it, etc. Once did a talk at the large hall in Muizenberg to U3A and could not get the wireless microphone to work beyond 3-4 metres. So I made up a 35m lead and it worked. 10 seconds into the talk, this failed too. Someone had stood a chair on the cable where it went into the amp and damaged the socket. The cable was bright yellow and in trunking but he managed to stuff it up. Then, at the same venue a few months later, the CellC connection which was giving 6mb/sec plus before the talk just died. It started 5 mins before the end but that was a blt late.
