On the "local to be capped" - something to consider ...

You think telskum give a rats ass about a few gamers? They only care about the ca$h, nearly every sme i've dealt with have scrapt their diginets for adsl and aren't in a hurry to go back to 64 / 128k @ 5gs+ p/m, rather they pay a few hundred more to tel$kaam for more bandwidth.

Telkom - it's all about the benjamins.

well, Im a couple of weeks away from getting adsl, modem's already bought - so I guess as an 'about to be' new adsl user, I'm going to perhaps find out firsthand along with everyone else, how this plays out. (gonna go with axess 30gig package) I do have my IBurst modem, so the instant telkom does any changes, such as remove local or do disconnections at cap end, I'm off to IBurst to pay up and get back online with them.
At least its vaguely useful having the hardware ready to use, in order to do an immediate 'alt plan' should Telkom change the rules of the game..

When are we expecting feedback on the various issues that RPM raised with Telkom? afaik we were supposed to recieve feedback on Monday Afternoon.......maybe we should give telkom a new definition for DEADline.

Rofl. Oh and Mad.....Pete the plank? Don't u think he is a bit overqualified?

Man this is driving me crazy !! Everybody in here is once again in the kind of pulling up shoulders and saying well its the norm nothing we can do about it WHY WHY WHY its as if you have all already accepted that the cap will be introduced and now just waiting to see which crumbs Teklom will leave us - COME ON - are we just going to sit back and accept everything they throw at us even before there is confirmation of this ?? Telkom lets off these rumours and sit back and see what we all write on OUR forums so they can get an idea of the kind of resistance they can expect can you people not see the machines ?? They are playing all us as fools and the whole of South Africa has once again gone lame and shrugging shoulders with an OH Well lets see what happens but if it does we b1tch and moan about it from sunup till sundown, as far as i am concerned Teklom is doing their own market survey by just reading the pages of MyADSL and seeing mmmmm these guys have already kinda accepted that a local cap will be introduced they are just waiting to see what crumbs we will leave them so lets go ahead and rip off these suckers even worse !!! HAHAHA all the way to the bank.

Yes I often feel the same, but remember behind these utterings, opinions, view points, call it what you want, there is a bigger picture and a greater plan. [Edit] Oh yes, and killadoob's posts. :)

I too feel that we shoud not accept these offerings from Telkom and start posting ideas like: 64k at R200.00/month will be good. That is not progress, and that is maybe what Telscum has been planning all along (think this was said elsewhere). Make the initial service way unaffordable for most, let them have a sniff at what can be had, and then water it down till it becomes "affordable" and the people will be happy.

Also remember that this Forum serves as a vent for very annoid, unhappy, screwed (can I say taht?), hopeless and downtrodden people, who have earned the right to post and say what they want, from their dealings with Telscum. Be glad that there is such a thing as MyADSL, at least give us that.

No nothing less than the best is ever good enough, but we all know Telkom and the DoC, if you are not realistic about all this, well, then you will be badly dissapointed in the future. Life still has to go on and business need to make money, people NEED to play games, e-amil, surf, etc. I think hoping for the cheapest, always on connection possible, is our right. We know what is available, and we know (or have a good idea) of what to expect from Telscum.
