Hopefully someone here will be able to help! I've just got an iPhone 5, but I now have a problem. Everything works absolutely fine, calls, data etc. until I enable Onavo and it connects to the Onavo VPN (They recently changed from an APN connection to a VPN connection). Because it's newly downloaded and the new version, it seems that I can only connect via the VPN. The problem though, is that as soon as the VPN is connected, all my mobile data dies. I can't load websites, access whatsapp, visit the app store, do anything! It simply says network unavailable or waiting for network... FYI, this is on Vodacom and it's running iOS 6.1.

Thanks!

I loaded Onavo ....( App data usage counter)? to see what data the apps were using: trying to see why the battery was dropping so fast.
I also activated another of their apps.... I think it was to save on data usage.... I had issues checking for mail and some other issue....deleted all the Onavo stuff... all fine now...on CellC with iphone5.

Hi,

I've had the same experience on my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.02) on cellc. So I removed it. It worked early in January, but after the 14th or so, it started causing trouble and things started lagging or not working at all.

However on my iPad (3rd gen, 6.0.1) it works like a dream.... So probably a bug with the iPhone version.

Cool thanks for the replies. After a further google search it appears to be quite a common problem with the 5.

OK, Onavo Extend compresses data on-the-fly by routing your connection through their server in Ireland. Onavo Count merely tells you what your usage is. They look very similar, which is confusing.

I've also started seeing weird connection problems with Onavo Extend recently, so I removed it from both my iPhone 4s and my iPad 2. If you do that, remember to go into Settings | General and remove the profile.

Onavo in South Africa

Hi everybody,

We suspect there is a problem for some users on different operators in South Africa. I just wanted to let you know that our development team is already on it.

For those of you who have this problem, please contact our support team at [email protected], so we may assist you.

I truly apologize for the inconvenience!

Laurie,
Onavo representative.

You might try reinstalling the Hardware Profile for Onavo.

But I've also found it to be more trouble than it's worth since they've opted for this VPN based system so I've just uninstalled it all together.

It's changed again now! I updated Onavo 2 days ago and redownloaded and installed the Onavo profile to discover it's changed back to APN connection. The update was on the 3rd of Feb.

It works ok on my S3 but on my ipad 2 it's a disaster, I think post Ios7.

Well, after having the issue solved in Feb, there was another update back to VPN earlier this year after which it didn't work on my i5 again... So I eventually just deleted it and am making do without it. Maybe it's just an iOS issue with the way the app works.

Got the exact same problem! Works perfectly for me on iPhone 4S & 5S with iOS 7 on MTNSA.. Dad.. iPhone 4S, iOS 7, Cell C = Fail.

I suspect the internet APN blocks it or more accurately VPN configs don't work for the internet APN when the app configs itself on iOS 7. Someone needs to investigate? Maybe the CellC rep?

I checked the APN settings contained within the config and it seemed ok but dunno
