Sent an email to ibust's technical support on the weekend asking simply what speed we should get throttled to ounce we reach our cap..

Obviously they have not responded, there lack of support is another issue, was just wondering what people get and what speed ibust are actually suppposed to be giving according to contract..

I reckon it is way slower than a 28k modem...

They have actually removed the 64kb part from their website as far as I can see, but it still gives 64kb speeds.

Maybe, but I'd watch those invoices as Landyman suggested in another thread as some ibursters could be in for a nasty shock come the end of the month.

MrH, what you mean bu surprise at the end of the month? Have they changed there contracts again with out anyone resigning them?

Knowing the way that company does business and the fact EHV pointed out their "new improved package" it might be wise to take it easy this month and check your invoice (assuming they send it), as well as check the amount debited IF you went far over your cap at speeds higher than 64kbps.

They reserve the right to make any changes to their contract as they please, which pretty much leaves the customer at their mercy.

They can make changes, but have to notify... standard agreement terms.

In their existing contract they reserve the right to charge for each and every MB you go over your cap, the contract has always had that clause in it as far as I remember.

iBurst already "cap" al their subscribers by not offering them the 1MB/S speed which they advertised. I hope the consumers win this round against iWorst as per their ASASA ruling.

btw: total usage thus far 20GB "waiting for the account"

So why haven't you signed up for their exciting new product yet?

That would be R19500 extra on your bill. :D

Seriously there won't be anything on the account yet if you were capped, i.e. 64kb. And even if it was full speed you should still have had to activate it. Not saying they won't maybe charge you hoping you don't notice the R20 000. :p But they won't get away with it.

If I was still with iburst I certainly would not take a chance of letting it run at full speed after I hit the cap anymore, as knowing iburst sooner or later they going to "hit" customers with a very heavy usage bill.

@EHV, they could activate it and say that you must have activated it, and it won't be easy for you to prove that you did not.
This is one company I do not trust at all so be careful with your "high speed after cap" from now on.

Well the speed is generally so poor it really doesn’t matter if they throttle it – although they advertise 1 Mbps throughput its closer to 250 Kbps, so its just four times slower…

If anyone wants to sign up for iBurst they should do it through MWEB which does the billing for iBurst. Mweb also offers a 2GB mailbox, 086 fax number and 300 free Wifi Hotspot minutes per month.

Do they charge any sort of premium? MWeb are known for their pricing :) I know I'm being lazy too. :D
