Ipad 3rd genwhat is that a pic of?
Well seeing as it is a Samsung screen we'll be seeing it allot more as they have a crap load of products they can include it in.
Apple to run away with the tablet market for a third successive generation. Well done guys.
Yet for some reason Samsung doesn't see fit to include this screen technology in their own products... allowing Apple to run away with the tablet market for a third successive generation. Well done guys.
LOL!
EDIT : Unless you're being serious again?
Its called Segmentation...Samsung is a big player in the game, they make a lot of money off their own devices, and they make a hell of a lot off Apple's products by selling the screens to them as well. Its all about having as many cash cows as possible.
Yes, run away with, dominate, trample
If by old stuff you mean cutting edge patents that Samsung aren't allowed to use in their own products, like the new retina display, then yes.Nice of Samsung to throw some of their old stuff Apple's way.

lol @ cerebus I think it's got to do with price. Generally Android tabs are cheaper than iPads.
This screen is also very new and when apple approached companies for making the screen, LG and Sharp couldn't get the required level of detail and clarity.
I'm sure the screen will find it's way into up coming products in the near future.
Isn't it $499 for the base 16GB wi-fi only ipad I've never really followed their pricing? I know the ipad 2 have dropped in price recently so that makes it hard to compare now.
But those top 2 are 4G devices so should be compared with the iPad 3 LTE (even though it has a better components)
The top 2 should be compared with iPad3 LTE you're right...and they're outclassed and not greatly cheaper. Pricing doesn't seem definitively better at all.
Just stop saying that.... again demonstrating you don't understand how consumer electronics work :/
See - products have life cycles and they all release the next generation product quite close too each. Pretty much everything ... so BMW will launch the new 3 Series with the latest features in February while Mercedes/Audi are still in the process. It will be the best until the inevitable Audi lunach a few months later ... and then the Merc. Come 5 years down the line and the process is similar.
They'd better hurry if it's not going to be a big deal.Samsung haven't launched their next generation device yet - Apple did it first. Big deal?
Ok.EDIT : Might as well stop punting your LTE. Initially I thought it was dumb to have LTE in a limited design like the iPad, but now I read that it won't even work in many countries due to spectrum. My bet is when Samsung release theirs ... that the user can download what they want, where they want
