Hi folks,
I am trying to make sense of a purchase I made, and upon arrival, without opening the box, I requested a return and got refunded less than what I paid.
I purchased a 5 piece luggage set, with a R59 free delivery voucher to sweeten the deal, only to find that it's not the sizes we were looking for and logged a return. I paid R1999 and was refunded R1881. After engaging with them to highlight the mistake of R1881 being refunded instead of R1999, I was told that the R59 free voucher was deducted from the R1999 and that other leg of delivery of R59 is credited to my wallet.
Apparently, the one R59 paid to the wallet was because I opted to drop off the unopened package at their depot near me.
My question is, as a point of understanding the numbers and the logic behind a free delivery voucher offer. Why is R1999 not refunded because the narrative provided was that the free delivery voucher was actually deducted from the R1999. This meant that I paid for the delivery even though there was a free delivery voucher on offer. Their argument is that I actually paid R1940 for the items, less than the R1999 as advertised.
Is this not misleading advertising or negative enticement with a twist? Do I have recourse for this type of marketing, and to whom do I complain to, if there is a case to be made.
