Hi

Im sure there are a bunch of threads regarding this problem, but im at my wits end and need some help please. Its probably an easy fix if you know how ;)

I have an old school single view DSTV decoder + TV in the lounge, and would like to connect to the TV in my bedroom.

I have a "T" splitter, with 2 RF Cables... The second RF cable is going from the splitter to the "aerial input" (for lack of a better term) on the bedroom TV. The TV is the bedroom isnt picking up the lounge picture. Im not sure if it needs to on component, AV etc?

Please excuse my ignorance...

thanks

Or a newer single view decoder as use RF-out to room TV.

Thanks for the reply Corbin,

Is the Setback Amplifier a must? The guy at Mica who "helped" me said i had all i need...?

thanks again

You don't need a setback amp... Use AV (RCA) for the TV at the decoder, then run the RF out straight to the second TV, without splitting.

I assumed his OLD decoder does not have rf-out. Y else would he use a splitter? Hence me suggesting he get a newer single view. OP give use the decoder model nr. That will help

There was only one decoder that did not have RF out, very rare... OP is splitting the RF out and not using AV.

The decoder model is a D5D 933.

Sorry, let me break it down:

• From my dish, my LNB cable goes into my decoder.
• I have RCA cables going from my decoder to my TV.

In order for the additional TV to work i now have:

• a "T" splitter, which houses the original LNB cable, as well as a RF cable to the 2nd TV.

Sorry if im stating the obvious, im pretty clueless with this stuff.

BTW: "splitter" may be the wrong term, i see the DSTV site just calls it a "T Piece", sorry for the confusion

Not sure why you are connecting it like this. As I explained above, take out the t-piece and run directly from the RF out to the second TV. AV for first TV.

Thanks for the help guys, will try it out tomorrow morning..

OP. Get a 1132 . It actually looks cool :o . Also get a tv-link while u at it. Your cables are there already. Connect as suggested, call multichoice with new smartcard nr and you set. Oh enable tv-link AFTER you added to the room TV . Should set you back about R700 for both. I stand corrected. This I think will be your best option. Your current decoder was just not designed with more than one TV in mind

If you get the PVR you should be able to run a second viewing environment (XtraView) at no extra cost.

I connected my TV link & the red light lit up. tested the remote from the bedroom & the lounge tv is changing channels & everything is working 100%. The only problem is that there is no picture going to the 2nd tv in the bedroom. Is it possible for a tv to NOT receive a dstv signal at all?

My current setup:
LOUNGE:
1131 decoder + tv + sound connected to amp speakers in the lounge.
BEDROOM:
tv only
