One in three municipal councillors cannot read or write, and more lack basic competencies to run local government finances.

On average, only half of local government politicians have post-matric qualifications, while only two out of 10 understand how tariffs are set or the cost implications of municipal services.

And more than two-thirds of councillors - including those who serve on mayoral committees - don't understand their roles, their responsibilities or local government legislations.

Viva ANC, comrades, VIVA!!

maybe thats why they wanna change road names around the country, i think these people wanna put up pictures of their struggle stalwarts instead of names.

so we shouldn't try to point this thread out to them then? Kinda pointless really!

It's much like what Eishkom are doing, the councils are hiring foreigners (mostly Brits) on contract to do the work that requires brains and special skills (like reading and writing)- their ideal way of working around the so called skills shortage and BEE/EE/AA...........

Great country this.

Threw out all the blokes who knew anything.

Now nothing works. Our precious struggle comrades can't read or write, forget about counting.

All about transformation. Replacing the knowing with idiots. What a strategy.
(With all these transformers we still don't have electricity!)

hawuk, boss.

Now they blame it on these nasty whiteys who brought all this rich being onto them for the reason they are not educated at all.

All over the world the people has been to the moon, landed on Mars and in South Africa our darling struggle fools cant read or write. The president of the ruling party is not only a criminal, he had hardly any education at all.

Their stupidity is stupefying.

Viva, Viva. anc Viva

What a country.

Looking at the level of corruption in municipalities, one really does not need the skills of reading and writing. Just counting.

yes you dont need to be able to read but you must be able to tell one colour bank note from another.
