I ported a prepaid number from Telkom to Vodacom on Tuesday. According to both networks porting was complete by Thursday morning but the Telkom Sim Card is still active using the same ported out number. CRDB-number query shows that my number is with Vodacom. Incoming calls emanating from Telkom are going to Telkom Sim card, all others are routed to Vodacom. I am able to recharge both sim cards with respective network airtime and make calls from both, with caller identification showing same number. I am grateful to Telkom mobile for this.

What sorcery is this? Physical sims?
Both physical sims. It's just a case of Telkom not completing it's part in releasing the number. When a number is ported out Telkom releases the number but assign a new number to the old sim sim card. In my case they did not assign a new number.
