Hi

I am getting these one time pins sent to my cellphone.
Clearly it's someone trying to login somewhere and it's troubling me.

How do I know the origin of this OTP? Which website is the individual logging into?

I have the Sms number but trying googling to no avail.

You can't tell from the sending number. If I were you I'd go through the list of sites I use that send an OTP. Can't be many. Compare the message text and OTP format with those previously received, starting with banks and online shopping sites that store cc details.

There is only one site i know of that I use that has a OTP function and the format is different.
Also usually there is a description for the OTP. This one is just weird??

OTP's usually describe what institution they are originating from, eg. FNB confirming a request for purchase of xxx for Rxxx, etc etc.

Something gidhsy going on here. It's most likely a person who submitted a wrong telephone number to receive OTP's

Probably wrong number. I often get SMS's and to say my alarm at Shebas Tavern has gone off , somewhere in Sabie :p

I'm getting 4-5 SMS's per day though.
The idiot can't be that stupid.

Perhaps to be safe change your password on any site you visit that does require an OTP. If it stops then perhaps someone was trying to hack you. If it continues then its a wrong number thing.

I know if only one website that requires the OTP....or at least use infrequently. Don't know of any other.
