Does anyone have OneNav Pro Series replacement installed in their vehicle? I'm looking at this to replace my OEM radio - but considering its pricey - looking for feedback - manly interested in AndroidAuto.

I've had one of these modules installed to my BMW. The original radio is still there.

It has Android Auto and Apple carplay.
It is not a standalone thing, it doesn't work without a phone and uses the original BMW screen.

They have options for other cars.

I have a friend with one of the older units in is Hillux. He is very happy with it, but would have preferred wireless.
The new units do look nice, but definitely pricy.

Depending on your car, I can also recomend:Kakadi

Have one of their units installed in my Tucson and very good performance and value for money

2018 Hilux - my biggest issue is I don't want to loose stock functionality (swc, car value display (aircon, etc)) - I know the OneNav is meant to do all that.

I think the newer ones are wireless AA and CarPlay - would be great if so.

I have the OneNav Classic in the Jeep - no major issues with it - but it was around R4000 fitted - so an easier pill to swallow.

I'm now leaning towards the Kakadi unit - apparently it'll work with my vehicle camera, so no need to rerun wiring - only thing missing is the output to the instrument cluster, but don't think any of them do that.

Can't really see why the OneNav is double the price - only difference is a slightly higher screen resolution.

I know some of the Kakadi units can display some of the instrument cluster info (but think they are more pricey)

I was pleasantly surprised with the Kakadi unit. I only wanted to upgrade the awful stock head unit the Tucson came with and the Kakadi was the best spec, for the price, I could find

That being said, the OneNav units definitely are good units also, so can't fault them on anything (well maybe price, on the Pro series)

Crap - forgot about that way around, I meant the other way, where the information from the unit (e.g. turn direction, etc) is displayed on the information cluster.

Thats the thing, the OneNav for the Hilux is R12000 - the Kakadi is R6500. Not sure if almost double is worth it.

I know and trust the OneNav, but the Kakadi ended up winning, as it does what I need, came with the trim plate and free installation, at a reasonable price. Their service was also good

I am sure I could have gotten much better and fancier, but would not be able to justify paying more than the R6500 I paid

Tx - yeh - their price is pretty good, most of the similiar spec'd ones would cost the same if you imported it yourself.

If you spec them higher, you end up in the R12k range like the OneNav - but - I'm hesitant to order one of these from overseas as I've had issues in the past, and there's not much you can do once its here. (the FM radio didn't work).

Out of interest, what is the startup time of these units? The first Android units took a minute or two before you could do anything.

I have not timed it to be honest, but feels snappy.

Let me put it this way, when I start my car in the mornings and pull out the garage, by the time I stop to close the garage door, I can pause my music on Spotify (I live in a complex and don't want to wake my neighbors blasting heavy metal)

Just to let you know, also, there is a bug currently with Android Auto and the Zlink software the units use for AA, causing some sound issues, but current work around is to just stay on or downgrade to Android Auto 9.9.6326

Just so you are aware of it should you go for the Kakadi unit

Thanks, which unit do you have, one of their current ones, do you perhaps know the more technical model?

Trying to find out to see how it'll interface with the vehicle through Canbus, whats available, and whats not, etc.

I had it fitted early August so it is current
I can't remember the exact model number now, but will go check in a few minutes and let you know

Keep in mind it does look like they use different models for different makes and vehicles

On the Canbus side, I would recommend giving them a call, they should be able to assist with any questions

No brand stated, just model number ZQ9109
ok, couldn't find that one, just a youtube post with part of it in the name - and same specs - but it led me to videos that seem to imply it can work for my use. (the canbus interface).

I asked Kakadi to send me a picture of the back of the Hilux version - but haven't heard back - so might have to just risk it. (I'd like to know what I'm working with so I can order everything up front, e.g, USB hub - or something to make sure I can use TPMS, Dash Cam, Reverse Cam, existing vehicle ports)

I like but don't like the price

Went with the Kakadi - probably should've just gone with OneNav.

Various Canbus functions no longer work - the radio itself only lists Rav4 in the CANBUS settings.

FM Radio is exceptionally poor - almost no reception.

Microphone quality also exceptionally poor - no one can hear me - and things like Google Assistant won't/don't work - fortunately I don't use these often.

The unit itself is ok, very buggy - but it works - and starts up fast - would give it a 5.5/10. I like that it takes a sim card - so I can have data available directly on the unit (still need to test) - and wireless Android Auto works well enough - I'd rate it an 8/10.

Kakadi service I'd give a 1/10. They've flat out ignored multiple emails. Based on this alone I won't recommend or use them again. I've now sent them another email in the hopes I'll get a response around the CANBUS issues.

Hi All!

Hi All,

I have this scenario:

Starlink Satelite Wifi on the roof of the Cruiser; Onenav Pro inside connected to the Starlink 24/7 and then an Apple iPhone with Carplay to the OneNav.

This is what happens: When I Carplay the phone to the OneNav, the phone looses its Wifi to the Starlink which means it uses mobile data for its own internet connectivity. This is ok here in SA, but outside of the country the roaming will kill me... Is there a way to keep the phone connected to the Starlink wifi and connected to the OneNav Carplay at the same time?

I thought the CarPlay is a Bluetooth connection, but it switches of my Wifi functionality on the phone as soon as it connects to the Onenav...

Can I make a second Wifi connection from the OneNave with a wifi dongle in one of the USB ports? and then have one connection to the Starlink and the other free for the phone?
or
Can I use a Lightning to USB cable from te phone to the OneNave tp free up the Phone's wifi so that it can connect to the Starlink Wifi and CArplay via the cable?
or
I have no Idea...

Regards
Jean

From what I understand is some with carplay stuff is over wifi so the phone disables other wifi network connections. You could use wired carplay in a pinch though.
