Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a frustrating issue after a new fiber installation in my complex. I’m with Afrihost, using Gaia Fibonacci (via Linteg) as the FNO. I’m on a 50/50 Mbps package, but for the past several days, my download speed has been stuck around 3-4 Mbps, while my upload consistently hits 50 Mbps.

I’ve escalated the issue multiple times, and Afrihost acknowledged it was a provisioning error. They re-provisioned the line, and for a brief time last night, I was getting over 100 Mbps download speeds. However, this morning it’s back to the same 3-4 Mbps on download.

Setup details:

• ONT connected via a fiber patch cable (SC/APC to SC/UPC – green and blue connectors).
• Router has been configured using both PPPoE and DHCP (tried both), but the issue persists.
• I’ve tested speeds via both the router and a direct Ethernet connection to my PC.

This has been going on since the installation. At one point, I thought the problem was resolved after reconfiguring my router using a link Afrihost sent me, but the problem returned. Now I’m stuck downloading large files like Warzone at about 400-500 KB/s, which is extremely slow for a 50 Mbps line.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with Gaia Fibonacci (via Linteg) or after a new installation? Could it be a configuration problem, line fault, or something else?

Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Just to add, I have two friends, another complex but Linteg is also the FNO for their complex and they are on the same plan as me afrihost, gaia fibonacci 50/50 and their internet is working as it should

Hi.

I am sorry to hear that you have not been able to use the line to it's best capacity.

Please share your ticket reference so I can have a look.
