I know that Onkyo is a premium brand but how does rate compared to the Sony/LG/Samsung home theatres ?
Price is R5999 so it can be compared to the other brands.

Anybody owns one, what's the pros & cons on this system cos its really tempting at the price (or am I just buying into the brand ?)

A few years back, at my old job, I installed many Onkyo's paired with Polk speakers. The other brands mentioned, can never compare.

Sony might still scrape in a distant second, but LG and Samsung don't stand a chance against the more specialist audio brands like Onkyo, Rotel, NAD, Marantz and Pioneer.

Oh, and about buying into the brand? That's not always a bad thing ;)

I read online that it was launched in the UK in March, anyone read a comparison on specs vs the other brands ? I still wanna know from someone who owns the same model.

You can dump pioneer from your list...

What makes these brands better at audio reproduction compared to the LG/Samsung/Sony/Pioneer brands is the power supply. At least Onkyo, NAD and Rotel have decent power supplys...

that's all you need....one super-duper power supply....excellent caps too...then you're good to go...

Hi, do not forget to also look at Yamaha. Especially the new RX-V765 with the discreet amp configuration. I have one, and with Wharfedale Diamond speakers, are very happy with it.
Have listened to Onkyo, Sony, NAD and Pioneer before I bought and decided on the Yamaha. Appreciate it every time I switch it on.
