Hey

I am trying to get a consensus of what sort of latencies people are experiencing in local online FPSs like COD4 and Team Fortress.

Please post your broadband connection type, including line speed or connection type, ISP, shaping etc.

Also include what game and servers you are using.

Example.

Telkom ADSL 4Mbps, Mweb shaped, around 50ms constant average with little variation or spiking, COD4 SGS servers

thanks

Telkom DSL 2.5mb, Webafrica unshaped prepaid, 15-25ms, any Counter-strike source SGS or IS servers

Telkom 384k ADSL with telkominternet 3gb.
BF2 around 60-75ms
COD5 90+ms :(

Aerosat 192k (bursting [almost never] to 512) SatDsl uncapped
CSS about 100-999ms with a loss of 84% (yep i know :O) and a choke of above 15

There was times that it was actually good (like 60-85ms ,but that was like in the first 3 months I used it)

Telkom 384k ADSL + IS fibre account (unshaped)

Crysis & Crysis Wars: 28-35 ping.

You might wanto ask people to add their locations as well. I live close to Vereeniging, but some of my mates in Randburg get a third of the ping.

Telkom 384k Adsl axxess local only unshaped.
Cod4 SGS servers
Pings weekdays=60-80ms lots of ping spikes also sometimes
Weekends=40-60ms

Cod4 IS servers
Pings Weekdays=70-90ms very stable
Weekends=30-60ms

Vodacom 3g hsdpa (without 3.6 enabled) & 3 stripes of reception on VMC

Team fortress II @ jhb server 300-400km away - 130ms
