Good morning ladies and gents! My wife is a qualified teacher (BEd Foundation Phase) and she's looking at online teaching as an option. Those "teach english from home" type things. Is there anyone with some information or hints and tips or perhaps specific sites we can look at? The places we've found so far has been really dodgy, at best, and we're not too sure that it's smart to just jump in and hope for the best considering her salary is part of what takes us through the month, every month.

We've looked at a place called "DaDa" and also one called "TeachAway" but the information on both is a bit lacking for my tastes. Hoping someone here is doing it or knows more about this than I do...

Check out 51talk, itutor and English first SA. Each of their websites have all the info you need, but I’d recommend English First because they have offices in Bryanston.

She will still need to obtain a TEFL certificate regardless of her qualifications. There are numerous courses offered online. Once you do a course (cost is roughly R3000 for the practical and theory) there are normally many job offerings given to you via the place that you do your TEFL certification through. Its a flipping good industry IF you are prepared to work the hours needed. I would stay FAR away from the offers to tech posted on the likes of gumtree etc. Those are a load of rubbish. One last tip is to double check the reg number of the company that you do your certification through, plus bear in mind that if the company offers face to face practical lessons, it is a good indication that they are not a fly by night.
