Maybe there is someone that are more advanced with network setup than me. The interest connection light on my DLink ADSL router is off. I replaced the phone cable to the wall no luck. I eventually bought another router thinking it was faulty. Spent hours with 2 different Afrihost support guys on the phone. They reset my entire account, removed my account put it back etc. Once the little light came on for about 3 hours and died again. Could it be the copper Telkom line to the street pole that's down? I'm at my wits end. No MTN signal at my house and now no ADSL.

1) First of you need to check if you have dial tone on the phone line .
2) If you do have dial tone on the phone , connect your Modem/router direct to the line( No filter in-between ).
3) Make sure you have accessed your modem and have the rite user name and pass word installed in the router .
4) Make sure line is verified .

Is your DSL light on but just not the Internet one?

Then odds are the line is fine, physically at least.

As above, if you are synching fine, but not logging on to your isp..then it is not the line itself.
I had an issue recently where we were regularly losing synch. Telkom took a few days to fix it, and once fixed, I was able to synch, but suddenly couldn't connect to the isp for some reason.
I called Telkom a few times, and they claimed to check everything their side...but no change. Then one person at Telkom said she would do a port reset, (and unlike the others at Telkom, actually made me turn off the modem while she did it) and when I rebooted the modem, I logged in to my isp no problem.
So it can be a Telkom thing...no idea why. But try that, and make sure they do a full port reset.
Forgot to mention...I have 3 different isp accounts, and none of them would log in, so I knew it was not the isp.
