Hey guys,

I wanted to know if any of you guys had any recommendations for a seminar/course on online trading. I have been wanting to start trading online properly but would like a course to get the general basics down.

I am not a finance novice - i studied alot of finance, worked in an investment bank and have passed cfa level 1 so im not looking for the basics of finance (ie. how to work out compound interest etc) - but more of a course on technical analysis (fibonacci's, candle sticks, trend analysis etc) and fundemental analysis.

Anyone taking any good courses that they can recommend?

hey thanks - yeah i am a ost member - have u tried their courses? are they any good? Im not sure how standard banks advanced online trading tool is - but i was thinking if i starteed day trading that i would move to a full blown provider. I seem to think that std bank doesnt have the best interface - but i may be wrong as i dont have any experience. I currently use the free version for long term trading.

I personally havent used OST. Why not try out a few free courses, and if its not detailed enough try something else? You will always learn something.

OST does offer quite a large number of products to play with, and these courses will educate you on all of them.

Standard Bank's OST did recently win an award though. The award is: "Business Day Investors Monthly Stockbroker of the Year Award". I have a pdf detailing the analysis on how they were crowned the winners. The following is taken from the pdf, please pm me ur email address if you want to get a copy of the pdf.

Standard Bank has done the most on
this front, ranking highest for the range
of instruments it provides to trade, which
is the widest in the market. Currency
futures, single-stock futures, index futures,
warrants and contracts-for-difference
can all be traded through its one online
portal. It also has loads of client education
facilities to help clients get up to speed on
the large array of instruments to which it
provides access. It is focused on the online
medium, though, so probably isn’t best for
less experienced clients who would prefer
to be talked through the pros and cons of
a transaction.

Hi Ice2Cool, did you manage to find any good JSE trading information websites?
I am also interested in online trading and not much seems to be available on SA markets.
Have been trading for 6 months and learnt lots at http://www.thedr.co.za.
The website is free with really good quality articles and courses covering the basics as well as technical and fundamental analysis. It helped me formulate a trading strategy so I can make money on the markets.
I have tried a few other SA sites incl. paid service sites but was a waste of time. Let us know if you found anything interesting or useful with other sites.
Cheers
