Hi All

I'm struggling with email on my mobile. I have a pop3 mailbox and from outlook I tell the server to leave the mail on there for 2 days. But my S3 constantly either miss a mail, or I get a notification for the same mail like 3 or 4 times.

Online mail could be the answer, but then what do I do if both my phone and pc doesnt have internet connection for some reason? I need to be able to always see my inbox with ALL my mail on my pc, and the latest 2 days or so on my phone. What to do?

get a blackberry... email on bb is lightyears ahead of any samsung

POP has got issues in the protocol itself. I dislike using it. Can you switch to IMAP, for example?

Why do you not make use of IMAP instead of Pop3? Far easier to keep things in sync that way. With Pop3 you are bound to end up with some mails on your desktop and some on your S3 which quickly turns into a mess especially so when you need to make backups etc..

For me it's easy to update my desktop or to load a new version of Windows and or to flash my phone with a new ROM as all my apps run from a mobile drive and all my mailboxes are Imap. So I just load the account settings, enter my passwords and I'm up and running in no time.

Then what do I do if I dont have an internet connection?
I need to be able to have my mail offline as well like with a pst file in outlook

You can setup your mail client to store a copy of the mail on the local device. I access my mail on any of my devices including all attachments even when offline. Its all in how the setup is done.

How do I do this on my galaxy S3. I mean the part where I keep a local copy of the mail?
How would I setup outlook to do same?

I use K9 Mail app on Android and it stores the emails locally, the Samsung app redownloads them every time wasting your bandwidth

My S3 does it automatically. I just switched off all data and I can still view all of my personal and work emails in the gmail app...

The Samsung email client is awful and for some reason dims the screen whenever it is opened too. Not sure if gmail can access non-google accounts as both my work and personal email addresses are gmail hosted, so come to think about it I might need to consider this K9 client at some point soon...

I'm using the default one on my S3 and it just says "Email". I take it that is the samsung app? If so then I hate it. Its totally crap. Now suddenly I get connection error all the time.

Any other clients I should look at besides the K9 mentioned?

I'm not using google mail. I'm using mail from a corporate company with its own domain. Does this change things in the setup in any way?

You can link other email accounts to your gmail account and all the emails will come through there. But yeah the Samsung app is crap, K9 has a lot of options, maybe too many cause it can seem a but daunting at first, but it works really well.

Also using K9 mail. In my opinion best mail client for mobile. Easy to setup and once done just export your settings to a file on your SD card. If you ever need to reload K9 mail or if you flash a new ROM just install K9 again and import the settings. No need to go through the setup of each account again. Helps if you have 9 accounts like I do. Usually takes me less than 10 minutes to have all accounts up and running after flashing a new ROM.

If you use titanium backup you don't even need to backup the settings

Get your firms IT support to just hook you up. I'm pretty sure they must have IMAP support.

AquaMail is also good. Maybe you should consider getting both K9 and AquaMail and then choose the one that meets your needs.
