dude what i'm about to say is very sad but i for one wont be movign much from my pc today, obviously its impossible to sit here the whole time but when I'm gone I will have control freak (an app that lets me control my pc through gprs or 3g) on my pda, i'm going for all the big stuff and will keep going non stop untill i see ive been capped, and then i'll probably buy a few GB and tone it down a tad

Pricing?

Hi,

I'm new to iburst and new to this forum . . so please bear with me if i ask stoopid question. When the cap comes in there are going to be different pricing available? I bought the terminal and signed up for the R599pm. Will I just stay on it, go onto another default package and will we be able to migrate between packages?

Sorry . . i though there is only 1 (well 2 - buy or pay of terminal) packages

oh and . . surely if we are going to be capped now they need to give us a "personal usage stats" fascility to check our cap usage . .. no?

those aren't stupid questions they're actually questions of the moment and we can't get a solid answer to any of them :(
its all part of the iburst experience i'm afraid

what i can tell you is what we have been able to suss out on our own without official word, iburst will offer more packages based on bandwith consumption, the numbers floating around are the normal 3gb one and a 7 or 7.5GB as well as a 1Gb package for light users.

as far as a usage stats page, we have found oss.wbs.co.za which seems to be a web app that iburst hired a company to make, it says soemthing about support but is linked to the main database to allow users to log in so i would assume thats the page or that a similar web app will pop up elsewhere, people arent very trusting of WBS so they definatly need a bandwith consumption report for all of us

If they cannot sort out something as simple as a email service how are they going to come up with a usage meter. They only way you can determine your usage is to use 3rd party software... But on the other hand do they have the means to monitor each users amount used ?????

Thanks slimothy.
So I guess my R599pm one will be 3Gig capped . . that's what I understood I signed up for Yesterday. Must say . . I am quite impressed with the speed . .128kB/sec constant (@ least for local dloads), Randburg Tower

Yeah they do internally, they have the software and we all have unique usernames and UTIDs, so they can definatly monitor our sessions and usage but reporting it to us is a diff story
