So I am in a bit of a conundrum.... I am seriously considering this car, but normally they say if it seems to good to be true it normally is. So does anyone here have any advice on the car.

It is going on Gumtree for R19500... with 180 000 Km on the clock, is it a good deal?
 
There's a general rule, if a car is sold in a poor condition it was probably poorly maintained. Stay away, this sounds like trouble.

Simple logic. Someone that cares and takes pride in their car tends to fix things if they break. If you see a car where there's big things broken, do you think the original driver would have been arsed to fix and maintain the small issues if he couldn't be bothered about big things? There are exceptions, but generally the answer is no.

Look at the car. Look at the person in the car. Now ask yourself, does that look like someone "Leavn to NewYork?". Answer is no. So he's lying on why he's selling the car. If there's nothing wrong with the car, why lie?

If you read the rest of that ad you should be able to tell that car has problems. Again, just a general guideline, stay away from any car that's been modified from stock. These owners usually drive like hell so the car tends to be in a poor condition.
 
If I remember correctly you wanted to buy(finance) an old BMW a while back?

1st car:
-It's obviously been painted - poorly
-There's an oil can in the front passenger footwell - can't be a good sign
-That stain on the driver's seat...

2nd car:
-The whole thing just reeks of BS
