opel corsa doesn't start...any ideas why?

Hi all. I'm new and posting for the second time. I have an Opel Corsa 1.4i 2004 and it doesn't start unless you charge it using jumper cables. The battery has been recently changed and so has the relay. It seems like something is drawing too much current as the headlight keep fusing in addition to this. Can anyone offer free advise on why this is happening? Do I need to take it to an auto-electrician?

Check your alternator would be the first thing

Start car. Check voltage on battery after altenator exited.
What you can also do is take the jumper cable.connect positive to battery and the other positive on the startor nut that the thick positive cable is connected to and try to start.

if it still doesn't start bridge the thin connector to the thick wire connected to starter with some piece of scrap iron.
Note this will create a huge spark and give you a fright. The engine should start if the ignition is on.

Don't create a short,it will kill the ECU.
if it starts with the jumper in place the main starter wire must be replaced. This happens if acid was absorbed by the cable.
if car starts manually the ignition does not supply enough power to energize the solenoid. This can be a starter problem or worn ignition contacts.
many people change this to use a relay.I dislike as every time it rains the relay gets water and energizes the starter and does not stop.

Check if the replaced battery has the correct rating as per the original specs; I find often that these spares shops (Midas, Autozone, etc) make mistakes and supply incorrect batteries as they use a "nearest rated" system to your original & usually suppply a Chinese equivalent.
For example if your original was a Willard or Raylite 640 model and you replace with an Autozone 640 equivalent - it is never going to have the same power as the original brand.
This can even mess around experienced motor mechanics.
Having said that most "Battery Centers" offer free battery testing.

If this car is anything like my old Corsa it's quite easy to dislodge the earth when replacing the battery.

Mmmm, sounds more like a wiring issue.
Battery replaced but still going flat + fuse to headlights blowing..... There is something wrong in your wiring.
