Gnome, I am talking about the engine mounting, where it bolts onto the block,in the middle of where the cambelt rotates, above the crank pulley. It goes through the plastic housing and mounts next to the air cleaner. The bolt heads on the block are difficult to get to,the engine must be jacked up first(I know,I have a set of these sockets but could not get to the bottom one, which is when I found that one was stripped)

BTW, is it normal to hear suspension knocks when going over bumps.I remember my passat where I had to replace shock obsorber mounting at the top, every year.

Corsa flat spot

Hi there

I have a 2001 Corea 1.4i that also has a flat spot from idle to about 3000rpm once it has warmed up. It also feels a bit more sluggish overall then when I first got it. It is the basic (8v i think) engine. Timing was checked and I did a full computer check and all came up fine. I was told the sparks are wrong, but the mechanic insists they are right. Should be BPR6EY but I think mine has BPR6ES. The car is going in again tomorrow to double check timing and to check fuel pump pressure. The car also has difficulty starting in the morning or after a few hours of standing. Lights also dim when I apply brakes or indicate. If this helps, the car tends to shock you if you touch the body just after switching off the engine.

The car has a FSH and is in immaculate condition. Getting quite pissed off because I have to rev the engine quite high if I want to get anywhere. I am told the electric problem might be a bad earth, but I have checked these and they seem fine.

The car has branches and a sportflo airfilter fitted as well as an amp (this may be the cause of the electric dimming), otherwise the car is standard.

I would appreciate any help
Thanks

Spark plugs for the Corsa B:

Champion - RN9YCC
NGK - BPR6ES

Spark Gap: 0.7mm - 0.8mm

Ok so you have a serious wiring problem there, whomever installed your sound did it like a tw@t, no offense to you. You need to sort that out asap because it's probably causing a loss of spark hence the performance loss.

But when you say you have to rev it high to get any performance, have you done a compression test to rule out mechanical fault?

The dimming of the lights is not normal, it's not supposed to happen. The only time the lights are supposed to dim is when you switch off the car (only slightly tho).

Next the cold start problem may well be related to a weak spark because when the engine is cold a strong spark is especially important but could also be coolant temperature sensor located on the head. Only buy the sensor from GM, it's around R150. If it comes to that post again and I'll tell you how to replace it.

Apart from that your problem isn't very specific, if the car is just generally lacking in performance that's usually mechanical or weak fueling/spark. You aren't one of those fellows who's gone and cut on the engine/injector/ecu harness or sprayed some stuff into the plugs or anything like that right? Just don't do it! Leave the harness ALONE. don't touch.

Also have a look at the condition of the spark leads. If you fix the grounding problem it's still possible that your coil pack has been damaged so I don't know try swapping it for another to test or buy one from Goldwagen or someone on OpelOwnersForum, from GM a coil pack is R2300 new, from Goldwagen R500 new (it's not genuine tho) and second hand can range anywhere from R400 - R800.
