Hi All,

So I am having some issues with my 2009 Opel Corsa Lite.

I was recently having some cutting out issues which was sorted with a good throttle body clean.

The issue now is that the car does not start when the engine is hot. If I start it in the morning or after letting it sit for about an hour it starts fine. The problem is when I drive for a bit and park the car, if I try start it like 10mins later it refuses to start. The ignition lights come on, radio can work, air vents blow, headlights can go on, but when I turn the key to start nothing happens at all. No turning of the motor, no cranking, nothing.

I did have the battery replaced last year December when the problem started, and it fixed it for a while, but it has come up again :(

When I took it in for the cutting out problems I did mention it, but they could not find any errors when the car was plugged in, and they said a clean throttle body should sort it out.

Any ideas on what I can check/test to fix the problem?

Thanks in advanced :)

Your first stop should be the starter motor or the wiring to the starter motor in this ^^ case, next time it does that try to push start it and see if it starts, if it does you know it's the starter or it's associated wiring. Also check your earth and and all the wiring for possible defects.

Thanks.

Forgot to add that when I push start it, it starts.

Will have a look at the starter :)

Does it make a clicking noise as you turn the key to the "start" position? If it does, then as mentioned above, look at the started motor, particularly the brushes. If there is no clicking noise, then look at the started solenoid. You can test that it's the solenoid by shorting the two thick cables on the solenoid with a spanner and the starter should turn. Use a crappy spanner you don't care about though, cos the arcing could damage it.

I had the exact same issue with my Opel Astra- turned out to be the starter motor was going; brushes i believe, as mentioned above in the thread. A few hundred bucks for a new starter motor and you'll be sorted!
