If there's 1 car that showed Opel had what it takes to produce a hot hatch second to non the Superboss was it.

Yet, while we still see the VW GTI being sought after the guys at GM have decided that Astra is the way forward.

Any reason why?
 
The name is the only cool thing that resonates with me, why not call the Astra OPC the Astra Superboss?
 
The only car that could really keep up in the class was the E30. Long range tanks on all of them, so they overtook the Superboss while refuelling.
 
What about the A45 AMG? Merc gave the finger to nearly all the traditional fast 2L Turbo crowd (Mitsubishi, Subaru, etc) who always noted that is not possible to produce such a powerful 2L without compensating on reliability and warranty (also whining about South African climate etc).

That said, I do believe both the Superboss and 200tS Astra/Kadett were engineered locally, unlike the A45 AMG?
 
maybe he drove it in reverse from Cape town to Jhb... Opels can do that!
