Opel Utility 2008 engine ugrade x18xe1

So i've been becoming annoyed at my 1.4i Corsa Utility sluggishness and to top it off the engine developed a bearing knock and the mechanic didn't do such a lekka job on it so now it has a jocky pulley rattle which annoys me even more.

The solution is a new car or a engine upgrade. I understand the x18xe1 engine is just a straight swop with no mods needed according to what i read. I understand they go for around R7k which suit me fine and is a very long shot from a new car. What i havn't been able to find out is if i need to buy new management.

Is the engine truly a straight swop into the corsa utility?
Do i need new engine management or will the stock one from old engine work?
Anyone know of a reputable dealer that sells these engines? Preferably in the cape

Edit: Fixed the engine model in subject.

I don't think that this is the best place for this type of query, try http://www.opcclub.co.za/ and you will get a whole lot of better advice.

Ask the CCD guys (tuners section) if you want really good pricing as well.

+1 +1 ... CCD comment is probably debatable.

even if the engine is a direct fit, gearbox might have to change but the Engine management will have to be changed, unless you can buying engine with loom and computer box complete.

best bet would probably be to do some research on the Opel forums in SA lots and lots of useful info out there, with some helpful chaps as well

I did sign up to opelclub.co.za eventualy and apparantly the engine isn't just a straight swop like the initial impression i got. There are more parts that needs to be changed. Ballpark between 20 and 25k with a chance of things going wrong.

Maybe i'll just have GM take a look at the jockey rattle and be content with the laziness xD.
 
If anybody happens to be curious too.

The mechanic at the local GM dealer tells me they use Remtec.co.za for the engines. Remtec also gives the dealers a shopping list of parts needed to install the engine which takes the guess work out of it for me. It will probably cost more through the dealer but at least i'll know it's done properly.

sell the bakkie and get one with a bigger engine, simple
