Also re that other analogy... I think that from a legal / ethical point of view, most people would view that as an honest mistake... kinda like using some else's phone because you mistake it for your own.

I think that this sort of setup is actually the most secure (ITO preventing unauthorised access to your bandwidth) I have a number of completely 'open' AP's - with dik Linux firewalls behind them. This also give much more flexability in terms of contolling the use of the AP - for eg. i can set individual caps for each user on my AP on my Linux box. Helps to prevent abuse and its also a very good trap for runaway virus infections.
