Anybody here playing MW2 over 3G/HSPA with a B970 router (the voda flavor)?
I started playing MW2 last nite, and it seems to play quite normal as over LAN.... when waiting to find multiplayer games, ping shows <70 -90ms... I play over Telkom HSPA, with good signal, good speeds.
Last nite the latency was a bit more noticable at times, but tonite the connection while playing is just schweet, no trace of lag
of course when I eventually get stuck into a multiplayer game, i clearly get my azz kicked (me still a noob!)
I see the Steam thing says NAT : STRICT... I should go to steam/nat to open the NAT of my router... but there is no link for Huawei B970.
Apparently opening the NAT will make it easier to get more multiplayer games? seems very quiet when "finding a game"... I would have expected many more players. So how do I 'open the NAT'?
I don't wanna just disable the B970's firewall if theres another way

at least I had about half hour very lekker play in one of the free-for-all games (near the bottom of the list...)

but I CLEARLY need more game time to not die so much! (at least I got a few choice kills tonite... guess they were also noobs :D )

I've also tried D-Link DIR451 router with USB HSPA modem as connection....
even put pc in DMZ.... NAT still STRICT
could it be that the 3G/HSDPA connection is the problem? Is Voda/Telkom/MTN causing the 'strict' perception?
Perhaps going to 'unrestricted' APN might help?

Damn pity, coz the mp gameplay is goood!

Check if your router supports uPnP. If it does, enable that.
If it doesn't support it, you need to add a 'rule' to your router's firewall, opening up port 28960 (I think, will confirm tonight) for both TCP and UDP.

hi, yes, its got uPNP, I will enable that tonite, see if it helps.
last nite I disabled the firewall on the B970, firewall and antivirus on pc, (scary!) still NAT:STRICT
which made me think it could be the network supplier (Telkom/Vodacom) thats blocking/restricting it

"you need to add a 'rule' to your router's firewall, opening up port 28960" ... thats the problem... I can't find anyplace in the router's setup where one can open/forward ports
The B970 Voda and MTN flavor has got a very basic GUI, not lotsa options :-(

Finally!
If this may be useful to anybuddy...
Got NAT open.... had to get 'unrestricted' APN from Vodacom, add the ports in the B970's Virtual server rules, uPnP
still Strict.
disable the router's firewall
O P E N!

Played Spec Ops all nite with cousin... ping rate on VC 61-66ms
