open ports on vodacom

how do i get open ports on a vodacom data contract sim. I have tried my mtn sim through sainet and 21 and 80 are fine but the vodacom sim keeps timing out. I'm using http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html to check it.

i hope it's a simple apn change,

Apply for the unrestricted APN. Call 155 for the forms.

Also been thinking to try the unrestricted apn -having problems connecting to our vpn from 3G, one moment it connects first time and then another I get a 806 error try after try...

Unrestricted APN and open ports

I have applied for and received use of the Unrestricted APN for open ports last week. Today I confirmed with 155 that i can use the Unrestricted APN but when I use teh dyndns port tool it still seems that my ports are closed. Any ideas why? 155 not so helpful.

I'm using a modem directly onto the computer - no firewalls or anything silly

yes i have, i'm told it's unrestricted with a capitol "U" but i've tried it both ways

Ill check how its loaded in the preset profile on Linux Mint. My ADSL is down at the house...so no interwebz...but will post tomorrow.

It is definitely 'unrestricted' with a lower case 'u'.

Log into www.vodacom4me.co.za then click on My Account / Services and check that you have the line:

Unrestricted APN Active

Have you nmap'd your IP?

i want 21 for ftp server and 5900 for vnc. not sure what nmap'd is but i've got a dyndns for the ip. at the moment i'm just using a port open tool from dyndns which is telling me it's timing out -ie - closed

Quick way to check if you are on unrestricted APN: You normally get a 41.192.x.x IP.
