I'm looking for a open source system that can do Citrix Metaframe-like functionality. RSA tokens NOT required. When I contracted in the City of London I used to setup and support the accounts for LCH Clearnet, we used the system described below.

Here is how the system worked (using Citrix):
1. All machines to be used needed to have the Citrix Web client to be installed prior to use. Installed as part of the Windows system build.
2. User logs on to a https://www.mylchclearnet.com and enters username and RSA token code. Citrix UserID was linked to AD/Active Directory account and roaming profile.
3. User gets presented with a window containing all their allocated apps. From here it's basically like a thin client.
4. User clicks the required "Published" app which then launches and executes on the remote server.
5. Users was encouraged to save/load everything from within the app as that is where the user's (Windows) roaming profile was linked to.
6. At the desktop support side/server side I could see the load balancing, the specific app server etc that the app is running from, the current users logged in, and all that kinda stuff.

Requirements:
- Something similar but open source, free, for a small company. Only 4 users required.
- Low bandwidth requirements. We can barely get ADSL at our offices, 512k is fastest we can get. We are with Mweb uncapped. Thus, something with low latency and low bandwith.

Client machines would most probably be Windows and using 3G/HSDPA for connection. I've used NoMachine for Linux and love it but problem is the users have ZERO I.T. knowledge. To give you an idea, they think that a computer virus is something physical that can chew up a hard disk and spit out the bits. I need something that needs maximum of 5 minutes training and that can get them working in three or less easy steps (1. Log on to XYZ website, 2. Enter your username/pwd,, 3. Click Pastel Accounting and finsished).
We do have MS SBS Server 2003, Exchange 2003 running but I don't wanna use this yet. First wanna get something running in a test environment. This is my at-home 'IT geek' just for fun project. Just for fun I'm using Virtualbox to run a test environment for Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04 so whatever needs to be done I can first test/run from my VM's. I prefer Virtualbox but I also have VMWare Workstation v6.5 available.

The whole thing is a project for myself to learn new skills. Our company owner/manager couldn't care less about a system as mentioned above. It you can't swing it and it can't hit a golf ball, then he's not interested !
Thank you !
