Open Source URL Filtering box

hi all

I have a dell sonic wall firewall however URL filtering is a bit Crap, do you know of any software i can use
beside the UTM that is open source

and hopefully not so advanced to setup

url filtering? you mean blocking certain websites like known porn and torrent sites? then you're looking for something like ipcop/squid proxy

yeah ipcop is good but hard to get up and running its a complicated config

pfSense or Smoothwall.

TBH I would discard the Dell, and use a pure Smoothwall or pfSense instead. All you'll need is a generic box (good motherboard with 2Gb RAM) and two (or more) network cards, depending on your setup.

What are you using the Dell for at the moment?

And also qualify Open Source. Do you actually just mean free?

trying to get around the network im pretty new here and haven't been able to get time to check the system
its for commercial use the dell is used as our primary UTM device ive heard that the URL filtering etc is a paid licence and its not that good for what you pay reason i want to try something else

That and its a learning curve for me
