Opening a MySQL prompt - XAMPP/Mac OS X

Where in blazes can I open this to set a root password? My knowledge of OS X/Unix is none. I've tried the obvious directories but just get a "command not found" error. Google says I should run the 'security' command but it's of little use.

Macs -> /usr/dustbin. Viva Windows.

Never mind, I just added a root password through phpmyadmin.
