Greetings

I have tested it and it works 100%

Timeouts usually suggest that the DNS servers are at fault.

Please try these DNS server settings:

Primary DNS: 196.40.108.26
Secondary DNS: 196.40.108.27

I have a Mega 100WR2 where do i change the DNS? I changed it in my router under 'DNS Proxy' Is this correct?

Under your network settings, click properties
middle bar, scroll down to tcp/ip
double click
at the botom click user dns servers

enter the 2 nums.

I can never access any mail accounts, hotmail, gmail etc. Basically it's a toss of the coin if the site even loads generally.

What I love is how they change or drop your username and password every month. I have had an openbrowse account with them for over a year and all of a sudden it's doesn't work. Now I got some other account to use instead. I still get asked for usernames and passwords in the IE browser still.

sadly no one else is SA has offered a proxy service for use with a local account. I don't consider what bridging my router with a local and international account a solution. Anyway it would be awesome if OpenBrowse actually worked all the time. fancy that!

OH! and before I forget, I love it how they (Openweb) always say "it work's on my side" or "it works on my PC, no problems here." Well not sure how they are testing the connection. They always blame it on firewalls or browser configurations, problem is my prepaid webafrica account works perfectly all the time so it can't be my firewall or proxy config. Anyway that's my rant for the evening.

Greets, I am one of the support personel, and when testing, I use the exact same OpenBrowse Software (standard download & install), even the same customer DSL account, on my normal ADSL line, just like the clients, using the same OB username & password and yahoo, gmail the works load 100% all the time.

The logical conclusion is that the account is fine, the ob u/p is fine, openrouter is fine.

Via this process of elimination, the only things left are "firewalls or browser configurations. DNS setting, router settings etc".

About 95% of the clients i have dealt with's accounts work from the get go. The other 5% have to set the DNS manually.

The same with OpenBrowse, the majority of the OB clients function within normal parameters, but some people need to set some settings for it to work.

If everyone was using the same brand specked pc, same brand ver specked router, same os, same dsl line, same exchange, same dsl line quality, tech support would be a breeze, and all we would do is pic the solution from the list and alls greate, but unfortunatly, all these pieces are mixed and matched from person to person, so yes, firewalls or browser configurations, DNS setting, router settings etc need to be set correctly or tweaked.

I would gladly fiddle with my settings if that would help but sadly it's only the IS/OpenBrowse configuration that doesn't work. The SAIX account works just fine so not sure it could be blamed on PC spec, router, DSL line, exchange, OS and firewalls. The only thing that could possibly help is manually setting DSN but I thought that was the whole point of OpenRouter, avoid having to adjust settings each you want to surf a website.

Besides the point, OpenBrowse is a roller coaster ride for browsing, sometimes you can surf a site at full speed, then the next night you would be lucky to open up a text only site like newzleech.com or even game.co.za which sad to say is hosted internationally.

I have on countless occasions emailed for support when attempting to login to a webmail account (Gmail or Hotmail) but always been told it will be looked at and no response. Or the "it works on my side" story. Not once I have I been given anydetails to test out some settings and troubleshoot as to where the bottleneck is.

Also why is it that I have to bug you guys for new password almost every month? I thought IE login username/passwords were a thing of the past hence OpenRouter. Is there a special place I need to access that has the latest and greatest OpenRouter and User Account password?

One final note, you charge R60 p/m for an OpenBrowse 192k account, it would be alot if I got close to 100MB surfed that month based on the speed/lack of connectivity. How does the pricing structure work then if 1GB costs say R60? Is it R50 p/m for time spent on resolving all the customer issues on trying to connect with OpenBrowse?

WOW,,,,i'm amazed that there are so many negative comments with openbrowse, i have also had a "few" issues with them but can honestly say that their service is overall excellent(support/uptime)

,,,,NO!!!!,,i dont work for IS/openweb

Just out of interest how long have you had the openbrowse account for? I got given a generic account this month and my own openbrowse account was deleted/deactivated for whatever reason. Now it's just horribly slow.

I am just wondering if I should apply for a new account and see what the deal. maybe there's some legacy issue with the account, who knows. What I do know is I want sort this out.

Mozilla Firefox seems to be much much better than IE with openrouter! managed to open my yahoo email however still slow as hell!
