OpenServe and Cool Ideas - Why is it so much more expensive?

Hi,

I've finally convinced my friend to upgrade his ADSL to fibre. As I haven't had any issues with Cool Ideas, I suggested them to him as well. After figuring out that his place actually has Open Serve and not Octotel, I was surprised that the price was (roughly) R400 more expensive (and the installation fee needs to be paid as well).
Also other ISPs (Webafrica and RSAWeb - both of which I'm not a big fan of) price similar to their Octotel equivalents - any idea why Cool Ideas has such a discrepancy? Also, there is no 20/20 offering available, which I find weird.

It is because Telkom is more expensive.

Most other fibre providers, charges a flat rate to the ISP, Telkom used the same model as on ADSL. This makes the products on their network more expensive

The lack of a 20/20 option is also due to OpenServe. They do not provide symmetrical options.

Even Telkom Internet on Octotel, Vumatel or one of the other providers is apparently cheaper than on OpenServe.

Also, when looking at the other ISPs, make sure you're not comparing the prices of their capped options.
For WebAfrica for example, the Octotel Uncapped price is matched by the OpenServe 200GB account, while the Octotel Premium Uncapped price is matched by the OpenServe 300GB account.

IPC fees as simple as that, we know how much capacity is needed for customers based on other networks and so we need to accommodate for the IPC access fees. Either that or shape throttle etc.

Guess Openserv/Telkom needs to make up for all the ADSL clients they loose.

So glad Vumatel covers my suburb.
I prayed for Openserve to stay away from my neighborhood, just because of the bad offerings and the price.

It seems Octotel doesn't actually know whether they are covering the house. Yesterday they say no and today they say yes ....

was so looking forward to change from CISP+Telkom => CISP+Vuma... and then got dropped like a wet rag by VUMA.

actually changed from CW+Telkom to CISP+Telkom to prep for the CISP+Vuma.
and ye, CW+Telkom 40/20Mbps 250GB package was R995, CISP+Telkom 20/10Mbps => R1028

Telkom home unlimited (uncapped) 100/50 whioch includes free landline-landline and Telkom mobile calls is R1699.
CISP 100/50 is R1899. Why the difference?

One has an FUP and one doesn't, with the price of IPC this bumps the price. We would love to make it cheaper if we could.
