Good day, I'm from coastal region closer to Cape Town. Why is my eastern cape traffic routed via jhb-teraco ?

#2023301498: Upload latency issue | #2023301917: Slow Upload query||MR |

These tickets was logged with Cybersmart on 8 March 2024.

Cybersmarts responses "we will look into the issue" for over a month!

Issues has been there for 2 years and with digging and having to purchase and use all of Cybersmarts Openserve accounts Home, Home Premium and Business all rebranded Telkom services by the way also experienced constant internet drops with these services. When i changed to premium+ the internet dropping stopped but with all 4 service i get 8 to 10 times slower uploaded latency locally and internationally my upload latency is 2 to 3 times higher.

Why would my upload latency be 10 times slower comparing to my download latency in South Africa ?

Example i get 20 ms download latency but upload latency has hardly ever been under 300 ms locally !

I tested with friends house and their upload latency is fine on axxess frogfoot, mtn lte but with Cybersmart it's 10 times higher locally!

Nobody at Cybersmart knows what is going on!

This is the message from Cybersmart.

Good morning, please provide an update "This is the update our team has after the fault has been logged.

Our Networks Team has picked up that it is been routed to Teraco Isando and not to Teraco Rondebosch which is possibly closer. Because this is a BGP connection, Cybersmart isn’t dictating which route it takes Openserve are, The network team has logged a fault FQ128341 with Openserve Engineers to look into it, Our team is awaiting there feedback." ?

Why is Eastern Cape Cybersmart Openserve traffic routed via jhb-teraco ?
