So yesterday they came in a bakkie with a printed "information" letter about upgrades to fibre backbone to gain access. Told them to contact landlord and today they hopped over wall into neighboring empty plot and did their install I assume across our property(will check just now when I get home).

Typo in email at top, so I try email this morning with address and no response yet. Called but no one answers at Huawei.

So yea, open a case?

My initial thought was not real guys and no way to actually confirm. With typo in the "document"

/comes in your back yard randomly
While they do have the law on their side and they did give you a "reasonable" notice of their intention, I agree that it is a significant risk for them to enter your property without your knowledge.

Telkom's contractors have just finished with fibre in our area. Crime has increased threefold; burgalries, theft from property and theft from vehicles being the main categories. I am not blaming the contract workers for the actual crimes but their presence is most definitely a factor. Whether they are providing information to criminals or whether the criminals are using them a cover, is the real question.

My advice to the community has always been that any contract worker must carry identification proving that he works for the contract company AND that they have proof that Telkom appointed them to work in that very specific area. Without that they can turn around and come back when they comply.

Problem is I couldn't verify and the letter brought had typos. They definitely talk to friends happens with workers of most contractors.

I have bull terriers in the back of my yard where the Telkom pole is, good luck to them jumping in there.
