Openserve Problem

I have being having problems every evening from 18:00-23:00 (sometimes its starts at 14:00) for the past 2 weeks now with my ping going up and losing almost all my speed. Got in touch with Cool Ideas support who asked me to submit speed tests and after trying on their side they sent out a Telkom "specialist" (the guy did a visual inspection of the line and my CPE not even touching anything) and after about 5 minutes claimed it was on their side

I signed up for a capped WebAfrica account and managed to get my ping back to 4 but still no luck on the speed side .I was wondering if anybody had a similar experience and how they resolved it (any idea no matter how small would help) ?

The problem is likely not Openserve. Openserve is expensive because of IPC so most uncapped deals come with a fair use policy. The very few that don't have one charge and arm and a leg usually so the chances of Openserve having congested OLT's is very slim as people usually go for 10, 20 and sometimes 40. I don't think there will be a lot of 100 or 200 and even if they are there is a good chance they are with an ISP that has a FUP like Afrihost, Axxess,Webafrica, Mweb.

You tested with a Webafrica account and even a Webafrica capped account does not work very good on my 200Mbps line.

The issue is Cool Ideas IPC rate limit with Openserve. If you do a trace route to any local server you would probably see the increased latency on the Cool ideas router just after IPC.

Drop me a PM so you can test with my Cybersmart capped account. It will show you nothing wrong with Openserve.

CISP's rate limits were upgraded as of 9am this morning on Openserve, so there should be improvement now
