Hi.OpenServe wants to roll out in our area - they have put us on their map and they have made pre-orders available via their own website.
We have been repeatedly phoned by a Telkom call center agent who insists that the installation will be done by end December PROVIDED we order the service through Telkom on a 12 month contract. He said that although OpenServe preorders are showing up at various ISPs, Telkom is being given preference and I'm going to wait 6-8 months before any other ISP can service my address.
Is this normal practice? @AfriGuy @Afrigirl ?
I'd really like to order from Afrihost month to month but now we have Telkom telling us we have to sign up for 12 months if we want service when the lines are in (or if we want our lines in by end December)....
I can PM my address if required.
That was just the consultant trying to secure sales. The completion of the site is not dependent on how many pre-orders there are.Sure, but I'm being told it's not going to go live unless we commit to 12 months with Telkom which is bunk in my books.
Yea just a shotty sales pitchWhat the consultant doesn't realise is that they've just lost 3 Telkom Mobile lines. I'm not happy with their tactics and will move out of principle.
Typical sales consultant job, they tell you any kak you sign up they get some commission. The amount of people they get with this scam is probably a lot higher than we realise as well so its easy moneyOpenServe wants to roll out in our area - they have put us on their map and they have made pre-orders available via their own website.
