Wanted to get the communities feedback about which fibre provider to go with.
I am moving to Mosselbay early next year and the area I am going to has both Openserve and Frogfoot coverage.
Given the recent news about people having trouble with Frogfoot in the garden route it has made me consider going with Openserve.
Can anyone that is familiar with the area give some input?

I am currently on Vumatel in JHB and its been rock solid (Cool Ideas - 100Mbps).
Will likely stay with Cool Ideas.

The following are the most important:
Stability.
Congestion during peak hours - I work on machines in the US so late afternoons are busy for me.
Does the connection stay up during load shedding?

Openserve!

My in-laws live in George and all they hear on the community group is how bad Frogfoot is there.

I can tell you as soon as Openserve finish trenching in my suburb in PLZ, I am giving Frogfoot the boot. I do have Vumatel as an option but they're more expensive across the board.

If you're talking about the connection from a provider perspective then it SHOULD stay up if they have backup power.
If you don't have some form of UPS powering your ONT/WiFi router at home, then it becomes a moot point as both those devices will die and you won't have a connection obviously.

I have recently had excellent, prompt and friendly service from Frogfoot in Cape Town. Our line had been destroyed by an ants nest. Frogfoot had a technician there the very next day and our line was restored. I think they're great. And yes, at least in my area, zero problem with load shedding.

Pls FXCK anything to do with Telkom.

Yeah, I have backup power for my equipment. So long as the fibre provider's equipment stays up I should be good.
It looks like Openserve is the way to go.
Really dont feel like struggling with Frogfoot.

There is a thread here speaking about how bad the service with Frogfoot is in PE. I beleive that the problem is being felt all along the coast from EL to CPT. You will definitely feel this. The actual internet service you get from them is bad. Unexplained packet loss & unexplained periods of outages (normally between 5-20 mins). These are never explained by FF. They have NO answers and the customer service in this instant is simply to explain that you must contact your ISP.

Avoid VOX and FF.

Vumatel uses racist pricing. My neighbourhood majority middle- upper middle class, average household has 3 vehicles. Yet they are rolling out Vumareach here because it's an "Indian Area" feel sorry for the neighbouring formally "white" neighborhoods in my town they are not getting any fibre at all thus far.

Apart from the property values the medium income per household between these neighborhoods are basically the same.

Look, Openserve should have backup on their infrastructure. Otherwise call them and ask and I am sure they will confirm whether or not they do.
I will just be very happy when I can turf Vox/Frogfoot (because Vox own FF and I associated them with bad service) for ANOther ISP/Openserve.

Still haven't decided on the replacement ISP, but there is enough time.

I'd go with OS - they are very stable. My parents are on FF in CPT (Afrihost) and while it's not like the drama the guys in George/PE face there is still down time around once a month. I'm on OS in CPT (Afrihost) and have had zero issues.

Openserve all the way.

Sincerely, a reluctant Frogfoot user

I have no choice but to use Frogfoot as they're the only offering in my area.

I don't have any experience with Openserve, but I find it hard to believe that any FNO is as bad as Frogfoot.

If you enjoy sending a picture of your powered on ONT to your ISP because your fibre provider tells your ISP it's off then Frogfoot are the fibre provider for you.

Openserve for sure. Although I got activated yesterday on fibre, it's really good and I know it stays on during load shedding as my previous DSL stayed up (with a UPS obviously).

Frogfoot is the worst, they have maintenance during the day, constantly having network issues, service is 8/10 degraded.
I find frogfoot worse than the issues Telkom ADSL had in the old days.
I would stay away.

Openserve

FF have issues in the southern cape areas. Used them for 6months in PTA with no issues though
