I have tried a few times to download the latest versions of OpenSuse Leap and Ubuntu but gave up as both were taking far too long. Does anyone know where I can get the installation disks locally instead of having to order the disks from the U.S.A.?

Try this page for opens use http://mirrors.opensuse.org
For Ubuntu try this page https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+cdmirrors
Had a dig in the cupboard and the last physical media I purchased came from os2.co.za back in 2002, they're long gone though. The OP is not asking for local mirrors. He's asking for info on where to buy physical disks locally.
