I have tried a few times to download the latest versions of OpenSuse Leap and Ubuntu but gave up as both were taking far too long. Does anyone know where I can get the installation disks locally instead of having to order the disks from the U.S.A.?

Where are you based? If you are close to Centurion, then I can drop of copies.

Try this page for opens use http://mirrors.opensuse.org

For Ubuntu try this page https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+cdmirrors

A few distros available here also: http://mirror.tenet.ac.za

The OP is not asking for local mirrors. He's asking for info on where to buy physical disks locally.

Had a dig in the cupboard and the last physical media I purchased came from os2.co.za back in 2002, they're long gone though.

Ubuntu used to offer a local service in the past but that seems to have vanished as well.

Best if the OP gives his location and one of us can download it for him.

Mick, Where are you from? I downloaded it about a week ago.
