Guys, need your expert advice. I would like to purchase the openview hd purely to get a better quality image on my soon to be purchased led tv. I see there is currently a special of R499 for decoder. Is this a good idea as i currently do not have the means to pay a monthly DSTV rate?

My second request for advise would be if you could let me know your reviews on which would be a good 32" led tv between the samsung, lg or Sony Bravia. All are available are from Game and Range from R2999 for the samsung, R3799 for the LG and R4999 for the Sony. All of these are HD ready as well.

Thanks in advance

Get the cheapest samsung smart tv with free vox internet.

Go with lg or samsung.i have a wd media player and sony tvs have issues with connecting to media players.i had to bend the hdmi cable to make it work.Sony doesnt make great tvs

thanks for the reply astroboi, really appreciate it dude. i did see that Samsung has that data offer with the purchase of smart tv's however the sizes which this offer is applicable to does not meet my requirements as i do not have the space for anything much larger than a 32" tv. I did also come across the JVC and searched on this forum, the results revealed were not good and thus i am not convinced to go for it.

The HiSense 32" TV's have a 100hz panel's whilst the Samsung is only 50hz. I would go with the HiSense for R2999 at a Game. Mind you that neither TV's are Full HD.

I also recommend hisense, they have a 4 year warranty where Samsung, LG etc only give 2 years. I saw the sinotec tvs at game has a 5 year warranty.

My previous Samsung lasted 368 days, at that time it only had a 1 year warranty, hence I suggest you go for something with a longer warranty period.

Native 100hz or emulated 100hz? Considering I don't know of a single native hz TV higher than 60 it would mean the latter which is pointless since it's not real and you want to switch it off anyway.

As for the warranty...that's probably because you'll need it multiple times in that period.

Rather get an extended warranty on a name brand if that's a worry to you.

Wat? Sony make some of the best TV's in the business.

Samsung has caught up dramatically in recent years but then most Sony's have Samsung panels in so that explains that.

LG on the other hand almost never reaches the Top 10 reviews every year.

There's Panasonic of course, but hard to find locally.

I bought my Samsung and hisense tvs at the same time, both 32", Samsung lasted just over a year, hisense is 4 years and no issues, and it was R1000 cheaper!!!

Extended warranty = more money

What are your guys thoughts on me getting the OPENVIEW HD purely for better TV quality signal? i do not have DSTV and do not plan on getting it anytime soon. Since the openview HD uses the same satellite as the DSTV, this should not be a problem when i do decide to get DSTV. Currently openview HD is going for R499 once off excl the dish and installation

Openview has better picture quality than DSTV in my opinion. There's also other channels to enjoy besides the usual SABC and ETV. There's something for everyone and this month's movie line up on ETV ain't too bad either.

Go for a Sony. You will not be disappointed. My old bravia compared to my mom brand new series 6. The Sony always comes out tops in terms of viein and display quality.

So guys, with regards to the Openview HD, I purchased the decoder from Game at R499. Phoned around and got quotes of R800 - R850 to install (dish, Single LNB and 20m Cable). Does this all seem good to you gurus out there? I am only gonna get the stuff installed once I purchase my 32" LED TV.
