I'm trying to get openvpn running on my Imagine IPS dynamic dns uncapped 512kbps account but it keeps choking on the TLS handshake. My local machine can connect to the remote one, but I don't think the remote one can connect back which may be the problem. My Webafrica uncapped ADSL express account works fine, but that's using my own router, so I'm wondering if by blocking p2p applications Imagine IPS is inadvertently blocking my VPN connection too? I have sent them a support request, so now I wait and see.

Also the speed is really slow on this account. My Webafrica 512kbps account is rate limited to 256kbps and it's still faster than the Imagine 512kbps one, even though Imagine uses the SAIX backbone?

I'm a bit worried as I need a calendar month notice to cancel this Imagine account and if I can't use openvpn it's of no use to me. Talk about flushing money down the drain.

Imagine sorted out my VPN issue within 2 hours, so I'm well impressed with their service. I still hate not having access to the router though.

Downloading software at 8kb/s on a 512kbps line is painful, especially when it's legal software from panic.com which shouldn't be shaped. Webafrica's adsl express is looking better right now, even with their silly thresholding.

Is your routing set up correctly? Port forwarding? Are you not maybe using two services on the same ports?

For the VPN? That's sorted, by whatever the support guy did on the router that I don't have access to.
