Hi All,

I have just purchased the OpenWeb 30GB Local Only - (IS)bandwidth, changed the login details on my router and guess what I can still browse international pages and torrent sites. Has anyone experienced this, and if yes why, and is this supposed to happen?

This is very strange as I did not take the OpenBrowse option, just paid my R131.

Not that I am complaining, just curious if anyone had this happen to them too.
:D

Sometimes it happens hey but only for a few gb's not the whole amount.

Sometimes you would get lucky and be able to get more than just 2GB.

I'm currently using that OpenWeb 10GB local-only (IS) in combination with the Axxess Uncapped Express. Its great to have fast local access during 08:00-20:00 since the Uncapped Express is so darn slow during those times.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've been able to get more international bandwidth with the 10GB accounts than with the 30GB local only accounts :D

The next question which has been surely answered many times on this forum is how many connections does OpenWeb allow on news servers.
I always thought it was 3 since they are running on the IS Backbone, but I am getting 5.

Can someone help with this?

This has happened to me with Web Africa before. Also a 30gb account!

There's a trick to keep using the International bandwidth on the local only accounts, however I haven't managed to perfect it on the 30GB :)

TomasW, I'm able to have 5 connections to the IS news server via OpenWeb, where as WebAfrica's news server only allows 2. I'm not sure why you want more connections, since you would get the same speed with 1 connection...
