Openweb Express Uncapped

Hi,

I received switched to an Openweb Express Uncapped account (EUNC-1024k) for R2,500 / month. I'm supposed to get 20GB every 10 days after which the account is throttled. It worked perfectly for the first few days. Then it started giving problems. From 8AM to 5PM the line has high latency and lots of packet loss. At 5PM the link suddenly starts working as normal again. Normal latency. No packet loss.

So it sounds like we are being throttled. But we've only done 15GB for the month.

Anyone else have one of these accounts? Having the same problem?

I tried calling Openweb but it is impossible to get through. The line is engaged all day. And emails only get responded to a day or two later. Try having a troubleshooting conversation with a day lag in between and you can see how the problem will fester for days before it gets resolved.

I'm beginning to regret moving away from WebAfrica's SAIX account.

Wait...I see WebAfrica also offer these kinds of accounts now. Good. I'm going to switch immediately. I know the underlying service is the same but at least there'll be someone to answer my call when I phone.

AFAIK IS by practice always shapes during work hours; what kind of traffic are we talking about here ?

you could always go for semi unshaped uncapped thing (uncapped express+); same as the "normal" express, but it uses SAT3 instead of the satellite and its unshaped in the evenings and weekend.

i know nexusISP and axxess offers these; not bad pricing either
