Openweb gold account...what a joke!

This is why I left Openweb. After my 4th new log in details for 4mb Gold i sent in my cancellation. Moved to Afrihost pre-MTN. Currently with PluGG since Nov and no complaints and never had to contact "support".

Did you request those login details or did they tell you to change the account?

strange, been with OW since February. No issues, downloads fly (2meg uncapped on a 3meg line) regularly go over 200k/s on torrents.

Granted i'm no heavy downloader, they dont offer a usage tracker but i'm guessing we go through about 100gigs give or take.

I am not a bandwidth hog and my line pretty much lies idle during the day and I only start using it when I get home, but every fortnight or so I would get home and the connection would feel like it was shaped into the ground. I would email support and they would respond with "Here try these login details", I enter them in and wala, hey presto, back to normal, until the next time.

EDIT: I must admit that this is about a year ago, maybe a little more, 4mb GOLD on Altech, IS, Vodacom backbone, IS was the best.

I had the same, my account would stop working or I would randomly get told they changed my password (without me asking for it). Turns out they were sharing accounts between users, so one guy hitting it hard means the one suffers.

That was a while ago, and I actually found the person who shared my account on this forum. They will deny this ever happens or ever did happen of course.

That was my deduction aswell, especially when you get a new login with somebody else's name, and they say that the names get randomly generated, ja right ;)

Huh! I even asked if perhaps I was given login details to the wrong persons account - 'damianv' sounded like it could never have been randomly generated. One of the ladies at Openweb even told me it's just pure chance that it sounds like someones name and usernames are indeed randomly generated.

lol, we know that's going on but like MrBeep posted it seems people are just trolling if they start asking questions.

Hello Mybroadband Readers,

I would just like to make you all aware of the following.

I've had an incident where I have bought a Gold Unshaped Uncapped 4MB line for R899 from OpenWeb ISP, I've had this account for some time but recently noticed my line speed has dropped from 4MB to 10kbs during the day from 08:00AM till 17:00PM. I queried this with them & was told there is contention and problems with my ADSL line. I have proved that I am being shaped as I have another ISP and when changing over my line speed is perfectly fine. There isn't a problem with my line at all. On OpenWeb's website they advertised a package for the Gold Unshaped Uncapped saying you will have FULL SPEED ACCESS ALL DAY. After my query was sent thru, they changed their website & that package is no longer available, it has been changed within a matter of a few hours as I took a screen dump of the package offerings. I am being billed for a full speed access line but not getting what I am paying for. The CEO, Keoma has sent me an email advising he will be suspending my service from OpenWeb but I am paying my service and have not missed a payment. I would not recommend using OpenWeb as an ISP as you don't get the service you are paying for and when querying you are told that there is a problem on your side. They blatantly lie to their clients. I am laying a complaint against them with proof with the Customer Protection Act.

Even if BlankMan acted like a dck, he was paying for a service that he never got.
It seems if BlanMan is not the only one getting conned by OpenWeb.
Seriously, why would a new account help, why do they keep on giving you another or new account?

I have just join openweb after cancelling mweb because its 4MBPS line is to slow and the line is throttled for R689-00. mweb should have waited until a certain gb has been reached before they throttled the line although it is a throttled line. Just show you mweb wants to make money and person by his full sense will pay R689-00 for a throttled line. I hope a lot of people cancel their mweb accounts and forced mweb to dropped there prices or to make R689-00 the premium line/account and not R899-00
I hope I will not regret my decision to move to openweb on the gold account of R649 pm.
