OpenWeb Gold - DSLHeaven/VB

Attention current OW Gold users.. which provider do you find is the best?

Voda Business or DSL Heaven (WA) ?

I want to try one of the two for next month and I have tried neither.. can someone on VB show me a traceroute to microsoft.com & another to google.cinx.net.za and someone on DSLH show me the same traceroutes?

would be much appreciated...

I was previously on a VB account, was really good until the website timing out issue started to show its ugly head. Been a while since I got the DSLHeaven account which is essentially a Webafrica uncapped account.However as a gold subscriber I don't feel the same type of shaping the Webafrica guys do, but I don't download constantly either. Whenever I do download , HTTP, NNTP and Torrents fly full speed. Youtube streaming is also exceptionally good. Wouldn't mind test driving a VB account again though, I miss having lower latencies because they are a few ms higher on DSLHeaven. NNTP on DSLHeaven is much better than VB NNTP for me personally.

Overall, I'm very happy with my DSLHeaven account, haven't had any other major issues.

Thanks, ok - I'm used to the WA Network, doesnt look any different to WA direct, which is great..

I haven't used DSLHeaven as this was introduced after i left OW, but from user comments i can say the following until corrected if in error

OW Gold - VB Backbone - NNTP - 100% throughput, browsing acceptable.

OW Gold - DSLH - NNTP - Not the same as VB but close, everything else is fine such as gaming, VOiP, gMail chat, browsing etc.

IMHO - if heavy downloading go VB route, if light downloading and everything else then DSLH.

Thanks - I use torrents and I only have them queued to run after 9PM until about 7AM. Previous WA uncapped subscriber but the thresholds were horrid on the 1MBPS account hence my move to OW Gold.

Most important to me is quick browsing and SSH as I work for myself and do a lot of ssh/https/http'ing - probably best to go the WA route then.

If you use torrents, VB is not for you. When I was on DSLHeaven, torrents went pretty well. But that was + 1 month ago so things may have change. You'd be extremely lucky to get anything over 30Kbs on VB during off peak.

On DSLHeabem, Youtube was amazing. 720p no problems. Gaming was pretty decent too as I average 250ms to a US server. NNTP averaged 340Kbs all day. The only problem for me was that as soon as it hit midnight, my ping would explode and I'd experience massive packet loss. That might have been fixed now, but I can't confirm as I switched backbones (OW Gold Ftw).

To me DSLHeaven provided the best overall experience when it worked.
