OpenWeb - service sucks?!?!

i also seem to like webafrica support platform better
its all online , i login with my username and password and check my usage stats in every detail ranging from my line number to how many concurrent connections on each account
its brilliant !! webafrica have 24hr support and you log a support ticket and boom its replied within hours ,
thats just my experience , not sure about other users ?

I wouldn't say the service sucks. But I had two issues with them (one of which might be resolved now):

- This lack of AH support. I hardly use it but when I need it I want it to be there. Hence I have prepaid accounts with WA and Axxess.
- Instant activation. This might be fixed. But I found it a huge drawback when I needed it at the time. Again WA and Axxess

Openweb not being a massive company Id think it would be insane to employ someone that sits there during the evening to answer 1 persons call whenever he does call :)

But that's just my opinion. If it does bother you that much, why not move to another provider?

Ok stop the fighting! Im thinking of changing to openweb but you guys are making me deside otherwise!

Well, if you need 24 hour customer care, try Axxess or WebAfrica.

If you do not need 24 hour customer care, check out OpenWeb, Axxess, WebAfrica, etc for the cheapest price; and there you go :)

Just to clarify and to re-iterate... I have changed the thread title to OpenWeb... service?!?! Not for home users

I see it does not reflect the change in the thread list though.

Also my suggestion of and after-hours cell number to call until a reasonable time (even 8pm is fine). This will not cost OpenWeb much, and it will very likely make a worthwhile difference to those that need a/h help. If MrBEEP is available at the hours respondants here say he is, and can help, what difference will it make to OW's staff compliment if a roaming cell is passed around their existing employees?

OK - that's it from me... for real this time!

:p

Hi guys....

Picking up on this thread a little late but hoping to still get some responses.

Firstly, I feel the need to defend OpenWeb. In the year and a bit I have been with them I had had nothing but helpfulness and good, prompt service.

Now the real reason for posting. I keep seeing comparisons made between Axxess, OpenWeb and WebAfrica but I myself am always unable to see how the other two even come close to OpenWeb on cost alone! I use the IS 3GB international and then 30GB local account with OpenBrowse on a 384k line. The local 30GB is mainly used for downloading from hubs and "NSs" (won't use the full word for fear of being shouted at... ha ha) and I usually manage to use my 30GB ever month with evening downloading only. I don't play games so IS is fine for me.

If someone could please tell me if I am missing something but where else would I get 30GB of international browsing and local downloads for only R299 per month? In fact I am now looking at "downgrading" to the 1GB account and that will only cost R229 per month.

I have looked at Axxess and Webafrica and they don't come near.... Axxess 30GB local alone is R450, no Openbrowse included
Webafrica 30GB local only at R19 per GB is R570, no Openbrowse

Please someone set me straight......

"openweb"-had a issue regarding online credit purchase(btw,,fault was caused by me selecting wrong option,,lol), mailed their support, was sorted by MrBeep within 2 hours, no problems whatsoever on my side with their support system
proudly an "openwebber" :D

I'm also late on this thread, but i'll easily defend Openweb here. I've had nothing but good service from them. Not a single complaint from me at all. I've even noticed that daytime torrent speeds have increased lately for me. Any query i've made was quickly answered by Mr Beep & co.
I hate that i have to pay R1369 for uncapped 512k, but thats how it is in SA atm, and we have to live with it.
Keep up the good work :)

Web Africa IS Local Only Accounts:

10gig: R70

30gig: R130

So 1gig international (pre-paid, roll over to next month - R70) and 30gig local at Web Africa will set you back only R200.
