Hi
I was downloading fine on Monday, Tuesday evening, reaching speeds of just under 500kbyte/sec
Last night I was lucky if I could reach 80kbyte/sec.

There is some confusion in my mind as to whether OpenWeb perform shaping or not. I need that clarified first before I go all out and hammer this company- I need to be sure of my facts.

I do know that on the Gamers packages you can forget about downloading during the day, That is a given so I don't even attempt to. I have noticed how the shaping goes away at the strike of 5pm each day, except yesterday it appears to have been stuck. Is this a fault in IS' stupid system, or is this because there's a network issue?

The ADSL line is perfect, on a local speed test and pings, I get full line speed and pings are 20mS stable.
Speedtest to international destinations is not so peachy, maximum I could get was 2Mbit/sec and it fluctuates wildly.
So its not the ADSL, nor is it the exchange. It is my ISP.

You are on a shaped package. Therefore there will be shaping when the network is under load, and the amount of shaping will vary depending on the load.

OK understood.
Is there any way I can find out if the network is under load or duress on a given day?

My question got answered in that thread thanks.
Seems cableguy is more forthcoming than Mr Wright.
As for the reference to pr0n, I resent that strongly. Getting tired of the sock-puppets on this forum!

The slow-down cleared by 11:30pm last night, from about midnight I was downloading at near line speed.
So obviously something was wrong somewhere and it got fixed. Case Closed.
