Openweb Uncapped Feedback

The problem is, when I switch to my mweb account, everything works perfectly, so it's not something on my end. What's strange about it is that even though my latencies are atrocious right now, I'm getting full speed downloads through http and steam. I obviously don't download when trying to play games, so it can't be that. It just feels slightly as if the standard uncapped users get lowest priority from OpenWeb, and if our connections get crippled, we are left to simply deal with it.

Edit: I can understand if this happens during the day, but these issues started and have been ongoing since last night.

I have noticed the same as with you when I move onto my telkom account it runs well no problem. The same goes for the http downloads and you-tube being as what you would expect from a fully functioning line .(So that means the line is fine and functioning correctly)

A WoW update coming in at 40 @ 19:35

I did notice on the standard uncapped that it would ramp up nicely every hour on the hour till max speed around 12.

I get the feeling that I need to get the uncapped, unshaped then I can have that variable out of the way.

Something had to have gone terribly wrong. Usually on my 384 account I would get a C rating on pingtest for international. Now on my 1mbs account I get F.

This Altech account continues to perform solidly. I was skeptical, but I'm warming to it.

They rely on protocol shaping and a traffic priority scale from 1 to 8. It would interesting to know where the OW Gold Altech accounts fit on the scale. Anyone know? From an article in February:

Service Description (Network Priority Level)
ADSL Capped – business Platinum (1)
ADSL Capped – business Gold (2)
ADSL uncapped – business Platinum (3)
ADSL uncapped – business Gold (4)
ADSL Capped – consumer Platinum (5)
ADSL Capped – consumer Gold (6)
ADSL uncapped – consumer Platinum (7)
ADSL uncapped – consumer Gold (8)

Anyone used the OW Gold Altech backbone for a while? Is it going to be good at the start and then get progressively throttled as I rack up some usage, or will it offer a consistent experience?

Sent a mail to Keoma about the pingtest results. Got this reply.

"I appreciate your email!

There is currently an IPC fault causing some issues. Engineers are attending"

Still getting between 400 and 900 jitter on pingtest...

Hope this gets sorted soon...

When I said hope this gets sorted I meant fixed, not broken. I have no internet access on my account at all atm

Ag Nee Man.

Just lost my OpenWeb connection... everything just died and now I cannot connect.

Today has been a poo day with this account.

Ye godz, thankful I be for the backup connections.

Mine too, my Openweb account just stopped assigning an IP to my PC.

I really don't want an account where I am forced to always have a backup account available. This really sucks.

Back online

EDIT: Pingtest jitter is now worse than it was. First test showed lower jitter but was still high, retested and all of a sudden ping shot up to 1000+ and jitter to 6000+

wonder if I.S is having some capacity issues, on an unshaped uncapped package the speed has dropped about a 1/4 -> 2/4 this week compared to the balls to the wall (full tilt) it was for the month too date.

What kind of download speeds do people who are on the 1mbs standard uncapped on the BCS network normally get?
