You should be able to connect using Altech during after hours. Just don't expect great speeds.

Thanks guys, Keoma tested my account and it's working on his side. on my side it's still terrible.

Currently waiting till the seacom issue is resolved then will see if the issues persists or not hoping for the not :D

Hey Guys which is the best backbone at the moment? i mainly do http, skype and P2P, not worried about NNTP. Also which is the most stable and constant backbone on Openweb Gold?

Altech, Internet Soultions, Vodacom Business, what other backbones are on offer?

PS looking at a 4096 package

VB is awesome for you until you get to the p2p bit :p
Although I managed to get some p2p done on my VB gold the one time I tried it.
Since you do p2p I'd suggest Internet Solutions, but I'd rather say get a news server account and get VB ;)

If you're not home during the day then IS should be fine. It's the only backbone with decent p2p service. The problem comes when you need to use your account during business hours. International browsing and using gmail always proved stressful for me.

I moved to VB and changed over from torrents to nntp. And so far speeds have never gone below 280kbs for me at any time of the day. everything just works.

What's up with VB this morning?

FTP is sitting at 10KBps, tried several servers.
Speedtest.net fails to load. The only thing I can do is use http.

Have you reset your router? I am running FULL speed

For the first time in 2 weeks, it appears as if the "certain websites not loading" issue has been resolved for me. Plus PSN hasn't signed out yet on my PS3 :)

*Holding thumbs that it holds*

:D

An hour or two ago wasnt business time. And Telkom always falls apart during business hours

Fair enough, but FTP is a business protocol. It's supposed to (and I usually get) be high priority. Getting 7KBps on it now, even after a router reset.
Luckily I have my fileserver on a simlink to the webserver so I can grab my necessary files via http. Obviously not ideal though.
