I hope they have a 6meg gold. Don't need the download speed of 10meg, but the upload would be nice.

wth is wrong with intl surfing today? almost every page i try load I have to reload 2 or 3 times. Got edited photo's clients are waiting for.

And this is is suppose to be a Gold package, more like copper.

Had similar problems with speed when I got home but restarted my router and all seems decent again on my Gold account

MrBeep often does, even on weekends.

Anyone else experiencing increased latency tonight on international? Everything seems about 100ms higher than normal.

Thanks, I'm getting no luck though.

Wish I could do a speedtest for you as our accounts are similar but I have an unauthorised user on my account right now, hence the need to get into contact with someone at openweb.

That sucks, did you email [email protected]?

In the evenings he doesn't reply quickly, but it seems like he always checks his mail at least once. I am fairly sure I've always received a response even if it was fairly late at night.

Yep, emailed [email protected] and [email protected]. Also tried their call centre twice earlier today but there was so much breakup after being switched through that I couldn't hear the person.

Seems I'm out of options.. will just have to wait till tomorrow.

Figured I'd just post here for a quick enquiry without having to read through all 90 odd pages :p

Coming off a Cybersmart account, finally decided to change ISPs. Was pretty much sold on MWebs 384k uncapped since it seems to be the product with the least amount of complaints (Web Africa is up there but their products vs price just doesn't cut it for me).
Anyways I just recently stumbled upon OpenWebs Uncapped Lite offering (affordable unshaped/uncapped? Yes please), wondering if anyone can give me a rough idea of what to expect. Basically I'm on 384k, and I mostly just game online (PC, XBL, PSN), so lower latency is preferable, but I also don't want to worry too much about traffic. Doubt I'll do more than 100gb p/month but it would be nice to have the option (won't lie, the odd torrent or 50 would be nice). I'm aware of the top 20% usage based thresholds and the IS backbone.

Is OpenWeb's product stable and reliable enough or am I better off looking elsewhere? Quick browsing and stable gaming are big selling points, torrents are a bonus, but not a requirement.

Thanks in advance

At that sort of usage, this product is not for you.
100GB on a 384k is pretty much nailing it 24/7, what with speeds being slightly lower during the day.

I am happy on my 384k Lite. I am currently approaching the 20GB mark for the month so far, and no shaping has taken place yet.
WoW on US server runs fine, with decent latncy around 300-400ms.
NZB's come down strong at an average of 41.2KBps.
Torrents are SLIGHTLY slower due to overhead mostly, but they run in at around 35-38KBps.
Browsing is fine, just youtube is somewhat slow. I guess thats just the trade-off of not being able to afford higher speed.

All in all. Its a good service if you just want uncapped internet for regular usage.
If you wanna go download crazy, however, this is definitely not the product for your needs.

Thanks wheunis.

100gb was really just a shot in the dark :p. If I can't download that much without it coming across as abuse then so be it. I'd be happy enough to not have to worry about usage and get some decent online gaming in.

Sounds like it's a good product for me.
Do they give you access to the IS newsserver as well?

Thanks wheunis.

Yeah uhm 100GB is a lot more than I do, and I spent most of last month on around 30KBps average. Uncapped lite won't be able to come close to that I think.
You should get IS news server access. I have access to it on my OW Gold (running on IS backbone)

Yes, access to IS news server is included.
Users in the 4Mbps accounts complain that the news server is slow... but my NZB's on 384k run in at max speed almost 90% of the time.
The other 10% is when I do let it run during business hours, where it fluctuates at between 50-75% max line speed.

I am very happy with this service so far.
Not saying it couldn't be better, but so far I have nothing to complain about.

I have to say I'm lately very happy with the service openweb is providing. Thanks, and keep on doing what you are doing.
